The Capital of the UAE is now growing almost as fast as neighbouring Dubai in every area except golf courses although three are planned in the next few years. The only course worthy of mention is the exceptional Abu Dhabi Golf Club with its unique falcon shaped clubhouse.
The course is host to the European PGA tour Abu Dhabi Golf Classic in late January which has seen some impressive wins for Chris Dimarco and Paul Casey in recent years.
The course is long and challenging off the back tees and is always in great condition and a delight to play. It is located about 20 minutes drive from downtown Abu Dhabi.
The city with its 2 mile Corniche has many fine restaurants and shopping malls so you can find much to amuse oneself after a round of golf.

Charleston is one of the most beautiful cities in the USA and has been enthusiastically preserved in its original pre Civil War state. Walk down the streets of the Historic District and very little has changed over the last hundred and fifty years and the first shots of the American Civil War were fired at Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbour in 1861 in what turned into one of the longest sieges in history. Take a guided carriage ride around the Old Market and out to the beautiful houses along the Battery to get a feel of the history of this lovely place.
Great golf is all around the city and Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, where the famous 1991 "war on the shore" Ryder Cup was played is only an hour away. Located on the North West Region of Spain in the heart of Catalonia you will find one of the most picturesque Golf Regions in Spain. The TPC of Scottsdale plays host to what is the rowdiest PGA Tour event of the year, The FBR Phoenix Open, where the par three 16th is turned into a cauldron of spectators in stands along three sides and standing 30 deep on the hill behind the green waiting to cheer any ball that stays on the green and boo loudly any ball that does not. It was here that Tiger made a hole in one which prompted the entire crown to go crazy and throw beer over themselves and everyone else. Tiger has not returned.
